Max Andrew Dubinsky in his short suspense thriller “Disclocated” creates a gritty, three dimensional character, William Scott who is having a very bad day. The story is fast paced and surprisingly unpredictable. Events you think are going to happen go a different direction due to the wildly random actions of Will. The ending is definitely unexpected and makes me want to know what happens next!!!
Enclave was well written and a must read for lovers of YA dystopian fiction. The characters Deuce and Fade fight not only to survive underground but also to retain their humanity. With the oldest person being 25 and life expectancy not much more than that, the people of the Enclave must grow up fast. As well as they have survived whatever horrible catastrophe drove them underground, there is worse coming. There are few novels I would go back and re-read, but this is one that I have! I look forward to reading the second novel, Outpost.
Cinder was an interesting mix of fairy tale and sci fi. The story line deviated enough from the famous fairy tale Cinderella that the reader was not lulled into knowing what to expect next. An enjoyable read and unexpected ending. I am looking forward to the second in the series – Scarlet! It was also great to meet the author, Marissa Meyer at the Rediscovered Bookshop in Boise, Idaho for a signing party. Her story of how Cinder came about and the path to printing this novel was interesting and inspiring.
